At least four people were killed and 17 others were wounded in separate shootings across Chicago over the weekend, according to the latest Chicago police figures reported Sunday.
The shootings occurred from Friday evening through early Monday as police investigated multiple incidents across the city. The victims ranged in age from 16 to 49, according to CBS Chicago.
ABC7 Chicago reported that 17 people had been shot, including four who died, while an earlier CBS Chicago tally listed 13 wounded. The difference reflects updates to the weekend total as additional incidents were reported.
What We Know
One of the fatal shootings happened Saturday night in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. Police said a 48-year-old woman was standing outside near West Fulton Street and North Long Avenue around 11 p.m. when she was shot in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 48-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were also shot during the incident. Both survived and were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Another fatal shooting occurred around 9:16 p.m. Saturday in the Englewood neighborhood. A 34-year-old man was inside a gray SUV in the 6200 block of South May Street when someone approached and shot him.
The victim, identified by ABC7 Chicago as Steven Gallegos, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and later died.
Early Sunday morning, police found a 25-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound in the 13100 block of South Langley Avenue. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.
A separate shooting around 5:45 a.m. Sunday left another man dead in the 6100 block of South Campbell Avenue. Police found two men at the location. A 30-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the head, while a 27-year-old man was critically injured.
Other shootings left victims with gunshot wounds in several neighborhoods, including South Racine Avenue, South Wolcott Avenue, South Kedzie Avenue and South Seeley Avenue.
What's Next
Chicago police continue investigating the separate shooting cases. CBS Chicago reported that no arrests or charges had been made in the listed incidents unless otherwise noted.
Detectives are working to determine who was responsible for the individual shootings and the circumstances behind each incident.
